With Another amazing week of CFB in the books another round football talk here at Dirty Sports. And a ton of great Games this week, No changes in the top 4 this week as the head honchos solidify there positions for the upcoming playoff. Just a quick note on the playoff, if you expand the playoffs to 8 or even 16 teams imagine how much more exciting College Football would get! Take some of these crappy bowl games and turn them into playoff matchups. Now lets break down some matchups from this weekend.
First lets talk about the rolling Crimson Tide. You may ask why even mention them ? They beat another crappy team in the volunteers. Yes this is true, but I want to mention the magnitude in which they are beating teams. Week in and week out Bama absolutely annihilates there opponents. Bama was a 34.5 point favorite against Tennessee and they covered the spread! All I'm saying is give props to Saban and that team because they are always overly prepared for every opponent.
The next big story from this weekend is The Fighting Irish! After taking a hard loss at home in South bend to Number 3 ranked UGA, Notre Dame has been on fire! This past weekend they took USC and kicked there tail all over the field, and to think at the end of last year and the beginning of this season Brian Kelly was on the hot seat now that seat seems to have cooled down as they move into the number 9 position in the AP poll. The Irish will be a fun team to watch as they have some exciting matchups going forward with NC State, Miami, and Stanford. Although chances are slim they still have a shot a playoff if they win out, we'll see.
Now lets head south where no one is talking about the South Florida Bulls. Now I know strength of schedule is everything thing and my point is not to say USF is a contender this year. I want to talk about Charlie Strong and how he's been very resilient after being fired at Texas this past season. Taking this team to 7-0 without even wasting a year to recruit, I won't be the least bit surprised if you see Strong at another prominent program in the next 2-3 years. Maybe he didn't have enough time at Texas but this guy can coach and I'm excited to see where he will be in the near future.
Now before I put a bow on this week's article I just want to point out a few exciting matchups to watch for this weekend. First of all the game everyone will be watching is Penn ST vs Ohio State. After Suffering an early loss to Oklahoma OSU has been on a tear to get back into the playoff picture and they are 4-0 in the Big 10. Meanwhile Penn St and the Heisman hopeful Saquon Barkley have just been eating each opponent alive each week and they seem unstoppable. This game will be incredible to watch.
Now another sweet matchup that's unfortunately going on at the same time as the first is NC State vs Notre Dame. Both teams heading in with a 6-1 record, both teams are trying to keep there playoff hopes alive. I predict this game will either expose NC State as overrated or this game will be down to the final seconds. Should be a phenomenal matchup.
And the last game I'll mention is the TCU vs Iowah St game. Iowah state after having a rough start is heading into this game being ranked for the first time in twelve years. Iowah has now played spoiler to both Oklahoma and Texas Tech and will come into this game hungry for a win. TCU on the other hand is out here cruising past every matchup in and out of conference. The Horned Frogs offense has been absolutely stellar this year, but with a bend don't break defense I wouldn't be surprised if the game ends up being closer than we think.
That's all I've got this week fam. If you like what you read or want to discuss comment below or hit me up on Twitter @Porkchop971. I'm really enjoying this I hope those reading it are as well. Until next week.
