I'm curious what y'all think, is Jimmy Garoppolo really worth his new contract? With the way it looks the 49ners organization values his 6 games at just under 23M per start. Is his body of work really worth that? Furthermore, his he truly a franchise saving QB? If Jimmy is getting 5 years, $137.5 million(74M guaranteed), what kind of contracts do you think we will see in the future for "Elite" caliber QB's for example, Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger and Wilson? Will they keep going up, or eventually flatline?
And in the scope of the NFL across all positions are contracts for big names getting too big that the older guys will be out of a job sooner in their careers? Instead of a super star playing 10+ years are we going to see them asking for too much money ultimately shortening a career?
I think he was paid way too much, but what are their other options? Sure Cousins needs a team now, but its not a very strong QB class coming out of college. He knows the Niners system now and he hasn't had a bad game yet. If they don't pay him, someone else might.
